Using the internet to job search
Email and the internet can be a pretty faceless place - so these tips will help you work with recruiters, not against them.
Tips and tricks
- Only apply for jobs that fit your profile accurately
- When you email the recruiter:
- Put your name and job reference in the subject line (if the job board allows you)
- Put your contact details in the body text
- Include a short description of your main skills in the body
- Don't forget to attach your CV!
- When you make contact with the recruiter
- Remember to ask who the client is
- If another agency is already working with you for the same role - tell the recruiter
- Check that the recruiter can work with your CV as it stands
- Agree a way forward and ask them when to expect feedback
If it's a very appealing role, the recruiter may be inundated with applicants, therefore your job will be to "get in - and get out" with a result. Your result is to close the recruiter to agreeing to put your CV forward to the client.
Good luck!
